First Look

First Look

Sunday is the second last day of the exhibition. The entire week has been a roller coaster of emotions and excitement. The high point of negative excitement was of course, that I lost Sexy Sam yesterday. The high points of positive excitement, however, have helped dull this loss into almost nothingness.

To have your work out there in the open world – the real one – is one long moment of nervous excitement all day long. It has been going on for five days now, and I am almost out of excitement-juice. (Is that what they call adrenaline?)

To have a stranger walk in, look at your work, seek you, and tell you how much they like your work is a feeling that I haven’t yet found words for. I have had many people tell me this before, through emails and comments in my Web 2.0 presence, but the triple-speak of words, body language and eyes enters through the pores and remains a more permanent presence.

And I’ll admit, the silent admirers, who walk by, staying at an exhibit that one moment longer than average are the ones that help you swell with happiness just that extra millimetre.

Oh, it has been a wonderful five days and a big thank you to all of you, who have been there and told me how much they liked what they saw, who have been there and didn’t tell me how much they liked what they saw, who wished they could have been there, who nearly came there, and all of you, who have rallied behind me these five days and more.

  1. Congratulations!

I’m so glad at your experience, and that people are enjoying your work.
I try to always be very authentic when responding to someone’s work. It sounds like you are getting some great, authentic reactions from people!

  3. Congrats for the exhibition. Can imagine what it must be like to open a whole new channel. A sudden fly-over on clogged intersection? Sky train?

You asked if I had a blog. Am really not of the faith yet, but did set up a page some time back. Had this vauge idea of a blog for listening… a contradictory concept perhaps. Here it is anyway:

You are probably right – but at the moment when I wrote the post, it was an overwhelming moment. Saxy Sam is my Samsung P310 – which I lost 😦

Went to your blog, thank you for sharing that. I have a question for you, read it there 🙂

The fly-over one makes more sense 😉
