So, if you have read the previous post, you probably have an idea what this post is about.
I contradict myself.
We have very little of everything.
We believe we have a lot in terms of our experience. But, there’s less, much less. We have a few thousand friends on Facebook and tens of thousands of followers on Twitter. Yet, when we need someone to be with us; when we need them the most, we have no one. Connected but isolated.
We are millionaires and paupers at the same time. What we have we don’t want; what we don’t have, we want. A friendly hug, a warm embrace. We live in big cities, with amenities that are worth a murder, yet, we won’t walk a block, to see the face that we want to. I wondered if Paul Simon would come to my rescue again. He did.
“Fools,” said I, “you do not know
Silence like a cancer grows
Hear my words that I might teach you
Take my arms that I might reach you”
But my words like silent raindrops fell
And echoed in the wells of silence
It’s not just you. It’s me, even.
We need more. But not more of what we seek. We need more of what we don’t seek. So we need to know, what we seek. Else, we seek what we do not need.
A friendly hug, a warm embrace.

Fantastic post. Speechless.

This is definitely very true. And very sad. But this is how most of us are choosing to live nowadays, and I have a feeling it is only going to get worse. I loved the lyrics you shared in both the posts!

I guess, then, it is also up to us to make it better (if it’s going to become worse) 🙂 Paul Simon writes well, almost everything he writes is enjoyable! 🙂
